Anti-Movie

A collection of scenes that challenge the mode credulity stretching themes in movies. Instead of rewarding stupidity, each cuts off the climax before it has a chance to develop.[notes 1]

Keypads

You know how whenever there's an electronic lock in an action movie and the nerd guy want to pick it, then the no-nonsense bad ass jabs a knife in the keypad (or something), and the door opens? It's idiotic. The keypad isn't the lock, it's the means of disengaging the lock. Destroy the keypad, and you destroy your ability to open the door. Scene:

Nerd: "Okay, I've almost got it..."

Jock: "I'm tired of this shit!" <smashes lock>

Cut to bad guys escaping, wondering what happened to the pursuit? The electronic locks wouldn't have stopped the Nerd for long.

So crazy it just might work.

"So crazy it just might work" is one of my favorite expressions. I imagine two renegade cops or whatever about to launch a foolhardy assault on the mob guys mansions. With them is the realistic Foil.

Baby: "Joe? You know what I'm thinking?"

Joe: "What's on your mind baby?"

Baby: "<some sexual reference about the place being "buttoned up tight">. They got a dozen guards in the yard alone. Last thing they'd expect is for us to walk up to the front door ring the bell."

Joe: "Shit, that's so crazy, it just might work."

Foil: "What? What does that mean? You don't go round saying, 'she's so fat, she thin' or 'so rich, might as well be poor.' So crazy is just more crazy you stupid son of a bitch."

Joe and Baby are oblivious, high five each other, hop the wall, calmly stroll up to the front door. Guards give each other sidelong glances. Joe rings doorbell.

Voice: "Hello, who's there?"

Joe: "<some clever line>"

Slow motion, Joe and Baby reach in and start to pull out their guns. Before they can do anything, both are gunned down by multiple guards who of course are already on guard and have weapons drawn.

Pixelated Images

You can't resolve a 16x16 pixel image into a recognizable face or license plate.

Notes

  1. The idea came while IM John quote about Snake Eyes smashing the keypad in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. John broke it down to the tired meme it was.
