Summary

A fun little indie film. The key idea: depressed porn director secretly makes a real movie, is pretty solid. While the execution is at times a bit flat, the movie is genuine and fun to watch. I mean, it's clearly someone's pet project, a bit amateurish at times, and that's just fine. It's a lot better than a turn-the-crank Hollywood film that no one involved gives a crap about.

It's funny how the actors are all much better actors in the fake film than they are in the rest of the film. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not, but it adds a layer.

Obvious spoiler alert.

The only thing that really tweaked my sensibilities was the "and then they won the academy award" at the end. I really wanted it a bit more restrained and "serious filmmaker". Talk about the festivals, or just how they all went onto serious careers. As it is, pretty heavy handed.
