Cleaning Brushes

First, be prepared to spend some time cleaning your brushes. Certain products with certain brushes can take 30 minutes or more to clean.
In most situations, I've found the most effective method is to put the cleaning agent in a glass jars. Any pint sized glass jar will do, like a Mason jar, a large yogurt jar, etc. Put the cleaning agent in the jar and swirl the brush around, pressing it against the side of the glass from time to time.
In general, I almost always use water soluble products because they're so much easier to clean up. While turpentine and similar cleaning agents will often clean the brush quicker, they're such a hassle to deal with. I prefer to use water and not have to worry about killing my lawn or how to dispose of the waste. Also, with water cleaning, you can constantly dump the dirtied water and refill whereas because it's a hassle to deal with, you're better off trying to squeeze all the cleaning you can out of turpentine.
