Western morality is based largely on the idea that the nature of humanity is, if not evil, at the very least flawed. Specifically, flawed in such a way as to be unable to maintain a morally correct or righteous way of life without external guidance. For the majority of Westerners,ref group=notesIt is admittedly a bit ham-fisted to lump all Westerners into a single group. Reliance on an idea moral guidance is much less pronounced in Europe./ref this guidance is of course found in the Bible.
