Previous Events
Geek Soccer 1: Saint Crispen's Day
Charles and Zane drilled up and down little neon cones. Dribbling is tough.
Topics included:
- how future members will rue that they were not at the first meeting
- the common if not inevitable capture of start-up/entrepreneur support groups by dilettantes and incompatible professionals (e.g., lawyers that argue their points with examples of $5 million companies)
- segway soccer, segway polo, segway tours, and Zane's continuing disgust at It'll change the way cities are laid out
- Charles' continuing disgust with TextDrive: Our business plan is simple, fewer services and less support for three times the price.
- Zane continued to harass Charles re. whether Charles should host with Zane or not
Geek Soccer 2: The truth marches on.
No action pics this time, but that doesn't mean there wasn't plenty of action!
As both Zane and I proved, the muscle memory developed in Geek Soccer 1 was retained for the most part as we were able to navigate the cone drill without nearly as much difficulty as before.
As expected, the discussion scintillated; a (non-exhaustive) list of topics covered:
- why the $@%&! use hibernate? why use any ORM product for that matter?
- how object oriented programming is based on classic (and flawed) western ideals of identity and egocentrism individualism vs. the "oversoul"
