Helping the Underpriviledged Graduate

Listening to story on a program called "EOP" (forget what it stands for) that helps underprivileged kids get through college. Two parts: boot camp in summer before Freshman year brings them up to speed and gives tools for studying. They are then paired with an adviser who not only shares experiences, but helps deal with challenges that come up--like getting kicked out of your house.

With federal cuts, the program is in danger.

But I was thinking, this is something which would distribute to a community very well. Community resources and qualified individuals could be identified and coordinated through online tools. Instead of paying one person to pair with X kids, get a bunch of 1-1 or 1-2 relationships for free. Match the mosts at risk with the highest qualified.

As for the boot camp, get a high school to donate it's gymnasium and bring in chaperons and raise money for cash expenses.

Raise money for one full time coordinator.
