Matrix Trilogy
From Zanecorpwiki
The "Western" narrative aesthetic is grounded in a smooth, focused story line drive by events. The Matrix is something very different. One sees it in Anime. The driving force is fundamentally faith. Even as much as characters are super-powerful, the message is that power alone is never enough. The opposition is always more powerful. It is faith that brings you through.
The motion of the narrative is also very different. Rather than a single smooth story, the Matrix (in the tradition of the Anime aesthetic) presents a series of pictures. It's much the same as the difference between a smooth waltz and pop 'n lock. The narrative is cohesive, but it's not intended to flow in the same way.
