Mobile Recording Studio
From Zanecorpwiki
On of my original thoughts when I put together the Recording Setup was to be able to take it mobile. I looked at some cases that would be the perfect size at fry's, but there were two problems. First, they were stupid expensive. $250 is a shit load of money for some injection molded plastic. And it isn't even that big. I suspect this may be primarily a problem with name brand inflation (Pelican was the only larger cases they had). Plus, half the shit was waterproof and stuff. Who cares?
Second problem is more pressing. Nothing had a very good phone system. What I would like would be a fat case that I could double up components in. Like, the computer interface first mic set and headphones on top. Rest of the mics below. For easy set up of single station and non-awkwardly large but flat case.
There were even cases with divided down the middle into two sections, perfect proportions, but these didn't come with pluck foam. Lame. There were cases the same size, but not divided that pluck foam. If I could find pluck foam separately (they didn't have it there, then that could work. Or got solid foam block and cut out shapes would be cool too. Place thinner foam underneath and viola. Would need four layers of foam in total. Plus with this method you could make plugs from the cut outs to cushion the top or large, smooth items that might work out of the foam.
In any case, I've got some of the stuff that may be useful there--foam for the audiocoustic mics, pouches for the spider mounts, plus documentation and extra XLR cable--in the M-Audio Fast Track box in the garage. The mini-hard case for the AKG perception 200 and screw-mount stand for the mic arm are hopefully on top or nearby.
