At the moment, this is a user manual for the network yast configuration tools found in Suse 10.x. Other versions may be very similar.
Add Additional IP to Ethernet Device
In most cases, you will have a single Ethernet device (network card) to consider. If there are multiple devices, you must first determine which device is connected the appropriate physical network.
- in yast, choose 'Network Devices -gt; Network Card'
- select the appropriate card and invoke the edit function
- goto the advanced tab
- choose 'add' and provide the alias, ip address, and netmask for the new IP
- re-instate any custom routing on the host
The netmask will probably be the same as the other additional addresses, or as the primary address. This may not be true if you have multiple IP blocks of different sizes.
