Ninja Champion
From Zanecorpwiki
Part of the Martial Arts: 50 Movie Pack. If you like 70's/early 80's martial arts and C movies, it's a deal. If you don't, it's a whole lot of affordable nothing.
Summary
The best part of this movie is that it starts with what can only be described as an Asian drag-queen homage to Columbia's opening logo. It's pretty much down hill from there.
Basically, you've got a woman gone vigilante after the law released her rapists. It has something to do with diamond smuggling too, but it's never really clear how the two connect. As you can imagine, the ham-fisted treatment of the subject of rape leads to some pretty awkward moments that ruin the generally benign blandness of the C movie feel.
As if an awkward, badly written rape-fueled plot wasn't enough, the filmmakers decide to throw in a painfully bad and drawn out scene involving a mentally handicapped sidekick. Oh, and there are ninjas... led by some white guy. It's not really clear how they figure in, but another white guy ninja is hunting down the first group of ninjas as they practice their circus routines.
Notes and Details
How did she track down her rapists despite the lack of all evidence? It's female intuition. It's like coach used to tell us. It's like, 'Never mind the law, I'm quite sure those are the guys that raped me.' WTF kind of coach did these guys have?
The weird and somewhat unfortunate thing is that when the movie breaks away from talking about rape and terribly thin plot points long enough for some actual martial arts action, some of it's pretty good stuff. Even here, though, it's only the male co-star who has the action chops. The female lead just tortures people and the white guy ninja fights are pretty lame.
On the plus side, the film did give us the following image:
Nothing dresses up a scene like a poorly taxidermied eagle.
