No Civil Rights

While filling out an on-line petition re. the Partiot Act renewal coming up this year (2009), I was asked to pick the "topic". Representative McCaul and Senator Hutchinson had no category for civil rights, citizen rights, bill of rights, constitution, or anything like that. Damn hypocritical politicians. Hutchinson was the worst, nothing about rights but the list did include "gas prices". It's a sad joke.

To his great credit, Cornyn did have civil rights as an issue and the best list overall.

However, what's worse is none of them had a free-form box, so "other" was just that. If you're concern wasn't on their preconceived list, you're out of luck. Your's is a non-issue. Intentional or not, it's a cynical way to control the conversation. "Gas prices? Sure, what's your take?" "Civil rights? Well, go ahead and talk but be advised it's not really an issue."
