Revenue Streams
From Zanecorpwiki
Nascent.
From Web 2.0: A Strategy Guide by Amy Shuen:
- subscription (Flickr, Netflix, MMO Games: Sims, WoW, Everquest)
- advertisement (Flickr, Google)
- transaction (eBay, Yahoo Shops)
- unit selling (Amazon)
- licensing/syndication/franchise (iStockPhoto.com)
- sponsorship/co-marketing/revenue sharing (Flickr, Google)
I might consider collapsing ads and sponsorship. Largely because I suspect that any customer doing the one is doing the other.
From my own consideration/research:
- consulting/customization/work (BizarreVoice, Sugar)
- support (Sugar)
I think the list of streams proposed by Shuen is driven from a consumer based view of Web 2.0. This may be partially a reaction to the rejection of enterprise one senses in much of the modern discourse (even pre-economic correction). In any case, there's nothing precluding B2B models from consideration; they are compatible with Web 2.0.
