Shaolin Deadly Kicks
From Zanecorpwiki
Part of the Martial Arts: 50 Movie Pack. If you like 70's/early 80's martial arts, it's a deal. If you don't, it's a whole lot of affordable nothing.
Summary
I'd seen this one before on another 'whole bunch of martial arts films really cheap collections', and not without good reason. This film is a notch better than some of the others. Still, I'm not saying that I'd recommend it to anyone that's not a Hong Kong/70's martial arts film aficionado. I will say this: Dorian Tan, the film's star, is a pretty handsome dude and has a certain flair. If he'd come along a little bit later, he could have been quite well known.
Details and Notes
Mild spoiler ahead.
Accepting that I'm already calling this film just another stereotypical 70's martial arts film, I do like the lone guy on a journey motif better than the palace intrigue. Young man training, however, is my favorite. My only real complaint with the film is that when the protagonist kills the third dragon, I wish he didn't He could have talked the guy out of it: Hey, don't worry because I vow to kill everyone that could cause you trouble. At the same time, I have to admit, the scene where he visits the dead thief's mother is as poignant as it gets for these films. So, hats off.
Trivial side note: another instance of Team Up on the Final Boss.
