As a movie, I have no idea if it's good, I was just so caught up in the absurdity. It's like a bunch of movie people got together and said, Man, wouldn't this be a fun movie to make? Which--in this case at least--makes for a fun movie to watch.

Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Sean William Scott, Sarah Michelle Geller, Christopher Lambert, andplenty of other Oh, it's that guy (gal) actors, apocalyptic conspiracy... the plot is next to impossible to follow at first, you just have to go with it. Everyone is crazy, but that's only appropriate when the world itself is crazy.
This is not going to be for everyone. The film is so niche, it has to know how niche it is. Fact is, unless you're a cosmopolitan liberal well versed in the the aesthetic of conspiracy theory as an ironic observer, cool with crazy Akira like f'd up plots, a fan of absurdisism, dark comedies, and in love with modern B actorsref group=notesThe cast is huge and comprised entirely of people who, while talented, just aren't taken that seriously and/or are past their glory days. They're not bad, and it's a different thing than the classic B actor--which were defined by their films--but there's a similarity too. I love it./ref, then you'll probably not appreciate this movie.
You can buy the soundtrack (which includes songs from one of my favorite albums), and there are no less than three prequel graphic novels... to a movie with no box office presence what-so-ever. Even the context and everything that sourrounds this movie is absurd. I love it.
Being what it is, this isn't a laugh out loud movie, though there was one line that drew a guffaw: What did we do when we discovered a rift in the fourth dimension? We launched monkeys into it.
