It's settled wisdom that Republicans will take the House and allusions to the 1994 "Contract with America" are clear. Even Newt's back. Will they take the Senate? The Presidency in 2012?

But Politics is theater and I'm much more in the mood for a comedy than a comeback story. Frankly, comeback stories are boring.

So when I heard the Republicans were actually going to oppose the Democrat plan to extend tax cuts for 98% of Americans in order to defend the tax cuts for the richest 2%, I thought: "Pinch me."
