Team Up on the Final Boss refers to a classic device in Hong Kong Cinema in which the heroes gang up on the final boss. The heros are always individually more than a match for everyone else, but the final boss is oddly--at least for the Western viewer--stronger than the individual protagonists. So, they get together for a tag team beat down.

The Western mythos is so centered on the individual, these endings can almost seem unfair; like cheating. However, it is the good guys ability to work together which is exactly the point.
