Works Salvation
From Zanecorpwiki
Despite the Protestant focus on salvation by grace alone (TODO: broadly accepted, but still want reference), there is no denying that we humans benefit from practice. The rejection of works salvation is similarly rooted in a historical context. During the Crusades, the Church preached salvation for the Crusader in order to project political and cultural power into the Middle East. During the Middle Ages, peasants were pressed into service and taxed on the theory that they would thereby receive grace as doled out by the Church.
The modern construction however, is a bit of a paper tiger. I know of no legitimate Christian sect that doesn't recognize salvation as a function of grace. It's not that works are necessary, but rather that works are beneficial. Practice makes our theory sincere and effective.
